After the flurry of publicity about the Local Plan and lively discussion at the FRA's Village Hall meeting on the 1st March about local aspects of the plan, the deadline for consultation arrived on the 23rd March ... just as the Coronavirus lockdown measures were being implimented. Six weeks on, this update was published by MVDC on the 5th May ...
Councillor Margaret Cooksey, Cabinet Member for Planning, said:
“I would like to express my appreciation to the many people who participated in our recent public consultation on the draft Future Mole Valley Local Plan. There was a tremendous level of engagement. The drop-in sessions across the District were well attended and we received around 3700 written responses; many times greater than the previous consultation. We continue to work hard looking at every comment to inform Mole Valley District Council’s (MVDC) decision about how to take the Local Plan forward."
“The current climate has in no way lessened the significance of progressing our Local Plan. This is a long term project aiming to maintain control over development within our District, protecting Mole Valley’s environment and delivering new infrastructure over a 15 year period."
“MVDC will continue working towards the next milestone of Local Plan preparation, which is to consult on the version of the Plan we intend to submit for independent examination. As part of this process, I expect a review of the Local Plan programme to make sure that there is enough time for issues raised during the consultation to be properly considered. We will be posting updates on MVDC’s various publicity channels and Future Mole Valley website https://futuremolevalley.org when it is appropriate to do so.”
