resurfacing work and road closure on Hawk’s Hill now scheduled for 22nd February

The badly worn  section of the Guildford Road from the Bocketts Farm roundabout into Leatherhead is finally being resurfaced.

The work is scheduled to take place over 18 nights from Monday February 22nd. There will be a road closure in operation from 8pm to 6am each night.

The FRA has repeatedly drawn Surrey County Council’s attention to the poor state of the Guildford Road (Hawk’s Hill) for some time, with our Councillors frequently being asked by the FRA committee when work was likely to take place.

The uneven and potholed surface on the Leatherhead-bound side of Hawk’s Hill is a particular hazard for cyclists, made worse by the steep gradient and low light levels caused by over-hanging trees.

Last week Surrey Highways representatives went from door to door in the immediate area, delivering leaflets containing information about the works.

When the Guildford Road is closed from 8pm each night, traffic will be diverted along Young Street and the A24 Leatherhead bypass.

Surrey Highways publishes an interactive map on its website where you can find details of the Guildford Road works and all the other upcoming roadworks in the county.  There are contact details if you have further questions.

Note: This item was updated on Feb 17th to reflect the change in the start date of the work from February 12 as previously reported.
