Litter Picking

Our Litter Picking organiser, Patty Harrison, has news of plans to recommence Litter Picks in September 2020.

Hello All my Lovely Litter Pick People!

OK, Rest up in August because we are going to start our Litter Picks in September!

Here is the schedule:

  • September 20th
  • October 18th
  • November 15th
  • December 20th

10am, in front of Greenwise, Fetcham

Bags, gloves (cloth ones), hi vis vests and litter sticks will be provided as usual.    Please bring your own latex gloves, if you want, and bring your own hand sanitizer and of course have a mask to wear if we go inside anywhere or are close to each other.    We will social distance ourselves per the normal rules and sensibilities.

After our pick, maybe we can get a takeaway drink and walk to Cock Recreation Centre and sit around for our natter; if someone has a better idea, please tell us on the day!

I have been going sporadically to The Splash with a bag and litter stick and it has kept me busy.    If I start litter picking from my house on Cobham Road to The Splash and back, my bag has been full.

Anyway, I look forward to seeing you, if you are self-isolating, we will miss you but SAFETY is the first priority for everybody!

Yours sincerely in litter reduction, Patty

This is a great way of doing something positive for the environment, and getting to know people in your community. If you want to take part (and enjoy a cup of coffee afterwards) everyone meets outside Greenwise at 10am.  Litterpicking sticks, gloves and bags are provided, and it’s remarkable how much is collected in the space of an hour.  It’s remarkable too how satisfying picking up rubbish from your local streets can be.
