Help at hand for those isolated by new Tier 4 restrictions

A new initiative was launched in the Fetcham area today to make sure that no-one is left isolated and without food over Christmas.

The Community Coronavirus Care volunteer network has teamed up with Lavender Catering in Bookham to offer a Christmas dinner delivery service for anyone who needs it in Ashtead, Leatherhead, Fetcham, Bookham and Effingham.

So if you know of anyone who would have joined another household, but is now not allowed to do so under the new Tier 4 rules, you can call CCC on 0800 3377 111 to book a meal.

Deliveries will take place on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day morning (depending on numbers) and the meals will be delivered chilled, so will need heating up in the microwave or oven.

This service is being funded by CCC and is being offered for free. Donations, however, will be gratefully received.

The Tier 4 rules announced late on Saturday afternoon, which apply to Mole Valley, mean that different households or support bubbles can no longer mix. The change has left many people's Christmas Day plans in disarray.

However, if your vulnerable relatives also live in Tier 4 there is nothing in the rules to stop you delivering food to their door.

The well established Meeting Room charity is also offering a Christmas Day meal delivery service.  It can be contacted on 07413 978422 or email
