Fetcham schoolchildren can look forward to a wider choice of reading this year, thanks to donations from the FRA.
Pictured (above) is Siobhan Magee, literacy lead at Fetcham Infants, receiving a cheque for £500 from FRA committee member Sylvia Oliver. Sylvia also serves as a member of the school staff, having worked there for many years as a senior lunchtime supervisor.
Thanking residents, whose FRA subscriptions make the gift possible, Siobhan said she was absolutely delighted.
“We’ve missed out on much of our usual fundraising this year. What we’ll do is invest in books for the library. We are very passionate about books, so it's brilliant to invest in reading.”
Fetcham Infants has 180 pupils, up to Year 2, in six classes.

Mrs Willemse said the extra money was being spent on providing class reading books for every child.
“The whole purpose is to encourage enjoyment of reading. So thank you.”
She added that the FRA donation was especially welcome this year as the school is facing additional costs because of Covid, such as extra cleaning.
